Here is a little bit about it
The Smart Start Training Programme was devised in response to the recommendations of the food and nutrition guidelines for Pre-school services (2004). It was developed as a result of a collaborative process involving parents, the HSE, Pre-School providers, County Childcare committees and the Border counties childhood network.
Pre-schools play an important role in highlighting health promotion with children, staff and families . Smart Start is a holistic health promotion programme which includes health promotion, oral health, nutrition, health and safety (accident prevention), physical activity and emotional well being.
